"'For it comes and it comes!' a coyote shouts. Packs of his brethren gather to agree: their steely jawlines wisp in color and concordance. 'The fuck out!' the property owner shouts. Speech slurred, his flashlight beam chases the desert landscape with drunken result. The coyotes laugh amongst themselves. Their paws tap atop the sand like a dice game, though soon they must scatter as the landman sets dogs to hunt all corners of his acreage. Squeals slip to the night-sky-darkness as hounds, wolves, and shepherds scrap ’til separation. Through wayward chainlink fencing division is again confirmed, while broken glass and standstill PVC piping stands upright in Sky Valley."
